The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho

This is a beautifully written story of insidious simplicity.
It is about a boy named Santiago who wishes to get to know the world. It is his
childhood dream. His parents had hoped that he would become a priest, but give
him their blessings when he leaves home to travel the world as a shepherd.

Together with his sheep, he lives the dream of his life: travelling.
After two years, he has a recurring dream about a hidden treasure near the
pyramids in Egypt. Santiago tries to unveil the meaning of this dream and in his
attempts he meets several advisors. One of them is the wise alchemist.

It took about seven years before this symbolic story got the recognition it
deserved, but in line with the message of the story, Paulo Coelho did not give up:

'To realise one's destiny is a person's only obligation. All is unity.
If you want something, the whole universe conspires to make sure that you realise your dream.
